Loopy in St. Louis

America is big and it has lots of things to do. That’s an understatement. There are so many to choose from. Take a look at the top candidates: Golden Gate Bridge San Francisco. Empire State Building New York. Alcatraz Island San Francisco. Bellagio Fountain Paradise. Central Park New York. The High Line New York. Top of The Rock New York. 9/11 Memorial & Museum New York. The Metropolitan Museum of Art New York…. and on and on and on. But how about one that most people don’t think about? Here’s one that offers way more than you might think – The Gateway Arch.

The Gateway Arch, also known as the St. Louis Arch, is a monument located in St. Louis, Missouri, USA. It is a 630-foot (192-meter) tall stainless steel arch that was built to commemorate the westward expansion of the United States.

The arch was designed by Finnish-American architect Eero Saarinen and was completed in 1965. It is the tallest man-made monument in the United States and the world’s tallest arch. The arch is part of the Jefferson National Expansion Memorial and is a popular tourist attraction. Visitors can take an elevator to the top of the arch, where they can enjoy a panoramic view of St. Louis and the surrounding area. The observation area at the top of the arch can accommodate up to 160 people at a time and offers a unique perspective on the city.

In addition to the observation area, the Gateway Arch also houses a museum that tells the story of the westward expansion of the United States. The museum features interactive exhibits, multimedia presentations, and artifacts from the Lewis and Clark expedition. Overall, the Gateway Arch is a significant architectural and cultural landmark in the United States and a must-see destination for visitors to St. Louis. Give it a try when you’re next in America’s heartland.
