When the Viking ruled Oklahoma

Bet you never thought you’d see that phrase. But, as always, history is a funny mistress and, let’s face it, despite Google and our smart phones, we don’t really know much, do we? Our children and their children will laugh at our conceit someday in the future.

So, behold a new finding. For context, you’ll most likely know that the Viking had actually been in North America for eons. But, it’s common knowledge that they sailed southwest from Greenland and, for the most part, stayed over on that side of the continent.

But, a new (controversial) finding suggests that they may have even made it as far as Oklahoma, some 3,180 miles apart. Did they? Some in a small community believe so, thanks to controversial runic carvings found in the area. Find out here, courtesy of BBC.com
